Künstler:innenhaus Lauenburg is an artists’ house and cultural institution founded in 1986 in Lauenburg/Elbe, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. Supported by the state of Schleswig-Holstein and local cultural bodies, it provides fellowships for contemporary visual arts, literature, and composition. The institution offers artists a dedicated environment for developing new work outside the commercial art market, while encouraging professional exchange and public presentations. Since its establishment, more than 200 fellows have worked at the Künstler:innenhaus.

Künstler:innenhaus Lauenburg Fellowship 2027
Künstler:innenhaus Lauenburg Fellowship 2027 offers four fellowship opportunities for artists, writers, and composers. Three are four-month international residency fellowships in visual arts, literature, and composition. A fourth is a national work fellowship for applicants with children.
The residency programme provides artists with time and space to develop new projects in Lauenburg, followed by public presentations and opportunities for professional exchange. Fellows are expected to spend at least 50% of the fellowship period in Lauenburg and participate in individual and joint presentation formats.

Eligibility
The three residency fellowships are open internationally, with no age or place-of-residence restriction. Professional artists, authors, and composers may apply. Literature applicants must work toward publication in German.
Applicants who are still completing their first degree when the fellowship begins, are receiving another residency grant during the same period, or have received a relevant Schleswig-Holstein state fellowship within the previous three years are not eligible.
The national work fellowship is intended for applicants with children aged 0–15 who have their permanent residence in Germany. The 2027 English-language call identifies this fellowship as being in composition.
Program Benefits & Awards
Each fellow receives a €1,000 net monthly stipend for four months. Residency fellows receive a furnished apartment and studio, with electricity, internet, and German landline telephone service included.
The Künstler:innenhaus contributes to production costs for final presentations and currently provides a combined €300 expense allowance for the initial and final presentation formats. Additional material or publication funding may be sought with institutional support, although this is not guaranteed.
Selected applicants may also be invited to participate in a curated group exhibition at the Stadtgalerie Künstler:innenhaus Lauenburg. Participating artists receive an exhibition fee. Exhibition participation is separate from fellowship selection.

The application fee is €10. Payment can be made through PayPal or by bank transfer. Applications without payment of the processing fee will not be considered.

Additional Details
- Residency fellows are expected to participate actively in the artistic community and public programme, including presentations, discussions, and potential cultural-education activities. Family members and visitors are welcome, although extended stays by visitors incur an additional contribution.
- Applicants may apply individually, as a duo, or as a group; however, the fellowship grant does not increase for group applications.
- Editorial verification note: The current English fellowship page lists the 2027 national work fellowship as Composition, while the German version currently contains a conflicting reference to Visual Arts. This should be verified against the final 2027 application form before publication as a definitive eligibility statement.
