Short Description

Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg, an internationally oriented museum situated between Berlin, Braunschweig, and Hanover, is seeking a Scientific Volunteer (f/m/d) for a two-year scientific traineeship. This role offers an in-depth, practical training experience across all museum-relevant work areas. You will assist with the preparation of monographic and thematic exhibitions, conduct scientific research, supervise exhibition publications, write scientific texts, participate in collection work, and collaborate across departments. This position is designed to complement your completed academic training in art history or a related humanities field, providing hands-on experience in a globally connected institution.

Remuneration: Remuneration based on EG 13 Level 1 TVöD 50% in Year 1 and Level 2 in Year 2, plus a 13th month salary

 

Responsibilities:

Assist with the preparation of monographic and thematic exhibitions (contemporary art and classical modernism).

Engage in scientific research and supervise the production of exhibition-related publications.

Write scientific texts and conduct presentations, including exhibition tours.

Support collection work and assist with cross-departmental projects using digital tools (e.g., MS Office, DTP software, and preferably MuseumPlus).

Contribute to the overall museum operations in a dynamic, globally networked institution.

 

Eligibility:

Completed degree in art history, art science, or a related humanities subject.

In-depth knowledge of 20th and 21st century art.

Some practical experience in museums, galleries, or exhibitions.

Strong oral and written communication skills, with very good English (additional languages are an advantage).

Proficiency in computer systems; experience with databases is a plus.

Must demonstrate an independent, organized, and sustainable working style, along with a commitment to sustainable practices.
