Open Call for Curators — Programme 2027–2029
Kunstraum Lakeside invites curators to submit proposals for the development and realisation of the institution’s artistic programme for the 2027–2029 period. The selected curator will independently conceive, plan, and implement a transdisciplinary programme that links contemporary artistic production with scientific methods, technological innovation, cultural education, and research. The programme should include exhibitions, events, publications, educational formats, and public engagement, tailored to the unique environment of the Lakeside Science & Technology Park.
The Role Overview
- Fee: €30,000 net per calendar year (2027–2029)
- Contract Type: Independent commission (project/performance‑based contract)
- Reporting to: Lakeside Science & Technology Park GmbH and Kunstraum leadership
- Programme: Long‑term curatorial cycle with strategic implementation
- Collaborators: Administrative manager on site, support from Park team and external professionals as needed
Position & Tasks
- Develop and implement a comprehensive artistic programme spanning exhibitions, events, discourse formats, publications, and participatory experiences
- Ensure thematic coherence and integration of art, science, and technology within the Lakeside context
- Acquire external funding, subsidies, sponsors, or third‑party resources to support programme delivery
- Write and edit curatorial texts for exhibitions, mediation, press, publications, and digital platforms
- Represent Kunstraum Lakeside publicly through talks, guided tours, and discourse events
- Establish and maintain networks with artists, cultural workers, partners, and institutions
- Promote cultural education in collaboration with the Educational Lab and other partners
- Plan, coordinate, and participate in exhibition setup and on‑site production
- Manage budgets and coordinate with the administrative and Park management teams
- Reflect on and evaluate programme impact and relevance for ongoing development

Eligibility
- International: Open to curators from any geographic origin
- Applicants must demonstrate significant professional experience in curating and cultural education
- A relevant university degree (e.g., art history, cultural studies, curatorial studies) or equivalent professional experience
- Strong knowledge of contemporary art discourse and practice
- Experience in research, publishing, and acquisition of project funding
- Proficiency in German and English (other languages advantageous)
- Ability to be present regularly on site in Klagenfurt and participate in meetings and events
