Short Description:

KW Institute for Contemporary Art addresses central questions of the present through the production, presentation, and mediation of contemporary art. Without a permanent collection, KW maintains a high degree of flexibility in program design and audience engagement, collaborating with artists and institutions and commissioning new works to advance national and international discourse.
 

Role Structure & Learning Outcomes

This two-year, practice-oriented traineeship provides experience in scholarly research, the development of educational formats, and conceptual/curatorial work for the artistic program. Trainees gain comprehensive knowledge of the organization, planning, implementation, and administrative processing of international and regional artistic projects and events.

Eligibility:

  • Completed university degree in a museum-relevant discipline (e.g., cultural or art studies, museum education, or related fields) with a Diploma, Magister, or Master’s degree; or a Master’s from an accredited program at a university of applied sciences.
  • Good knowledge of art history and interest in contemporary art and current developments in the international art context and its discourses; intercultural and transdisciplinary competence; readiness to engage deeply with the topics.
  • Initial experience in exhibitions/mediation work and project management preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to produce accessible texts.
  • Fluent German and English (spoken and written).
  • Confident use of MS Office and common digital applications.
  • Careful, self-reliant, and reliable working style.
