Short Description

The Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (AVU) is seeking applications from candidates who specialise in fine art studies with a focus on collaboration/collectivity participation/ and who can contribute to course-based teaching that complements our existing practices of art instruction in studio-based master programs.

The post will involve teaching at the undergraduate level, contributing to the supervision of PhD students, and research and administrative responsibilities as specified by the Head of the Master Program as following:

  • Collective Project course preparation and instruction
  • Formulate a plan for semester themes, collaboration with co-tutors
  • Individual and collective consultations
  • Participation in study trips, exhibitions, debates and other activities of the program
  • AVU review panels and membership on juries

This is a full-time position that includes teaching, tutoring, evaluations and administrative tasks of 14 contact hours per week.

Working conditions

  • one-year contract followed by a three-year contract based on the review
  • associated professor: gross salary of CZK 36,000 per month plus bonus of CZK 15,000 per month for a non-resident candidate (CZK 51,000 / EUR 2,000 total per month)
  • full health insurance and social security payments under Czech labour law
  • 8 weeks paid holidays

Eligibility

The Academy of Fine Arts in Prague is particularly keen to hear from candidates who can enhance the teaching expertise at AVU and who have:

  • internationally acclaimed artistic practice
  • experience in art instruction at higher education institutions
  • proficiency in English as a language of instruction
  • a university education (graduate or postgraduate) in fine arts

  • a structured CV with an overview of previous work experience and teaching activities, if any
  • documentation of the applicant’s own artwork in the form of a portfolio and monographs or catalogues, if applicable
  • a brief presentation of a teaching plan for the subject of “collective/collaborative project” (1–3 pages, A4 format)
  • notarized copies of documents showing the applicant’s highest level of completed education, plus any academic titles, if applicable
