Established in 2021 by founders David Feldman and Jennifer Herman Feldman, Long Meadow Art Residency (LMAR) is a non-profit passion project located in the scenic Berkshire Mountains. The organization's mission is to enrich and advance the creative trajectory of artists by providing an inspiring, distraction-free environment. LMAR is governed by a diverse professional board comprising artists, gallerists, art historians, and collectors, all dedicated to fostering a nurturing space where creativity can flourish. The residency emphasizes wellness, collaboration, and artistic freedom, ensuring that residents are supported by a cohort of past participants and a broader local arts community.

Long Meadow Art Residency 2026–2027 Open Call
This is a solo residency program designed to provide artists with uninterrupted time and space to engage with, explore, and challenge their practice. Nestled in the tranquil environment of the Berkshires, the residency fosters significant artistic growth through a combination of solitude and high-level networking. Unlike traditional group residencies, LMAR focuses on one artist at a time, allowing for a deeply personalized experience. Residents are encouraged to pause and reflect, with the ultimate goal of producing a body of work or a new "visual language" during their stay.

Categories

The residency is multi-disciplinary and welcomes a wide range of media, including but not limited to:

  • Visual Arts: Painting, Drawing, Sculpture, Mixed-Media.
  • Media Arts: Video, Filmmaking, Digital Media.
  • Traditional Arts: Craft, Textile Art.
  • Other: Open to any discipline that can be supported by the 600 sq. ft. studio space.

Eligibility

  • Minimum Age: 25 years old.
  • Residency: Must be a current resident of the United States.
  • Logistics: Must possess a valid Driver’s License (to utilize the provided vehicle).
  • Inclusivity: The selection process is identity-blind, with no regard to race, nationality, religion, sex, gender, or sexual preference.

Program Benefits & Awards

  • Stipend: A monthly living stipend of $3,000.
  • Supply Budget: A materials reimbursement budget of up to $2,500.
  • Accommodation: Private 2-bedroom house with a full kitchen, dining space, and loft.
  • Studio Space: Access to a private 600 sq. ft. studio with a garage-style window opening to the meadow.
  • Transportation: Full use of a car for the duration of the residency.
  • Professional Development: Studio visits with board members, potential mentorship, and professional photography of the artist and their work.
  • Community: Access to the Berkshires arts scene and a lifelong network of alumni.

Application Fee

There is a $35 application processing fee, payable upon submission of the online application form.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a single combined PDF (max 25MB) containing:

  1. Artist Bio and/or CV.
  2. Artist Statement.
  3. Portfolio: 8–10 images or video links of your work (must include 1–2 photos of work created within the last year), including title and medium details.
  4. Statement of Intent: A note explaining how you expect to benefit professionally and personally from the residency.
