Situated in the remote fjord community of Seyðisfjörður in East Iceland, LungA School is an independent, non-traditional educational institution and artistic residency. Deliberately operating outside conventional academic and industrial production systems, LungA School approaches education as a collective social practice where artistic exploration, community living, and environmental observation blur the boundaries between life and art.

LungA School ART Winter/Spring 2027: A Composition for Untrained Voices
LungA School has officially opened applications for its 12-week ART Winter/Spring 2027 program, running from January 11 to April 2, 2027, in Seyðisfjörður, Iceland. Grounded in Lyn Hejinian’s The Composition of the Cell and structured around the concept of tracking daily observations with scientific and poetic precision, the program mixes intensive workshop weeks hosted by visiting guest artists with self-directed and collective studio practices. Rather than measuring artistic output through rigid academic metrics, the school emphasizes opening up new ways of seeing, thinking, listening, and doing within an immersive fjord environment.

The program accepts All Visual, Conceptual, Performing, and Multidisciplinary Practices, including Experimental Painting, Sculpture, Performance, Sound, Social Practice, Textile, Writing, and Interdisciplinary Installation.
Eligibility
- Educational Background: Open to everyone. Prior formal training or an academic degree in art is not required. The school explicitly welcomes "untrained voices" and beginners alongside experienced practitioners who possess a genuine curiosity and openness to experimental learning.
- Geographic Scope: Open unconditionally to national and international participants worldwide.
- Language Requirement: All application forms and program activities are conducted in English.
Program Benefits & Facilities

Tuition & Fees
- Tuition Fee: 700,000 ISK (Icelandic Króna) for the Winter/Spring 2027 session.
