Short Description

Applications are open for our inaugural artist-in-residence program, located at the M.T. Liggett Art Environment in Mullinville, Kansas. We invite artists and creatives of all backgrounds to apply for this opportunity to live and work on-site for 4-6 weeks in our community.

Eligibility

We encourage applications from all creative workers, regardless of the applicant’s background, focus, or specialty. This program is open to artists and creatives of all disciplines, including but not limited to: visual arts, performing arts, literary arts, media arts, musical arts, and multidisciplinary arts. Given the legacy of M.T.’s life and work, special consideration and preference will be given to self-taught artists, educators, military veterans, and first responders. Artists who work in metal and restoration will be given priority due to the environment and materials available at the residency. Applicants are expected to:

  • be 18 years of age or older at the time of the residency
  • have an interest in working in a rural context and community
  • show willingness to work with community members from a diverse range of social, cultural, economic, and political backgrounds
  • have the ability to work independently in a remote location
  • have a personal vehicle, driver’s license, and qualifying auto insurance (due to location and lack of access to public transportation)
