Short Description:
The Film and Media Arts MFA is a 54-credit Master of Fine Arts that combines theory and practice to help students become socially conscious, independent filmmakers and media artists. The program supports creative control, artistic voice, and exposure to filmmaking, video, digital/new media formats.
Students can focus on one of three tracks/concentrations:
- Media Arts (installation, interactive/new media, online forms)
- Narrative & Documentary Filmmaking
- Screenwriting
A final creative thesis (up to 6 credits) is required, which could be a film/video production, a feature script, interactive or installation work, etc.
Entry Requirements:
- Bachelors degree (in relevant field or otherwise)
- Portfolio / sample works (films, video, writing etc.)
- Statement of purpose / goals
- Resume/CV: Detailing academic background, work, and creative experience.
- Letters of Recommendation:3 letters from academic or professional references.
- English Proficiency (international students): TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo English Test scores required if applicable.
Career Opportunities:
Graduates with this MFA could move into roles like:
- Independent filmmaker / video artist / documentary maker
- Screenwriter for film, television or media platforms
- Media and interactive installation artist
