Short Description

Monash University Museum of Art (MUMA) is seeking a dynamic Public Program Officer to join its team. In this role, the successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Director, Gallery Manager, and curatorial staff to develop an annual program of innovative and rigorously researched public programs and experiences.

The Public Program Officer will drive public engagement by linking ideas from MUMA’s artistic program to create compelling events for both campus and external audiences. Responsibilities include developing and delivering diverse programs such as floor talks, closing events, film screenings, podcasts, symposia, keynote lectures, and student-focused experiences.

A key focus of the role will be fostering connections with Monash University staff, students, alumni, arts enthusiasts, and the wider public. The officer will also forge new partnerships within Monash and the broader arts industry while nurturing existing relationships to enhance MUMA’s visibility.

Beyond the university, the role involves engaging with the local community to increase attendance, improve visitor experience, and promote MUMA’s programs and the Monash University Collection as valuable educational resources.

  • Remuneration: Pro-rata of $96,768 – $104,450 pa HEW Level 06 (plus 17% employer superannuation)

The Role Overview

This role requires flexibility to work outside standard business hours, including evenings, weekends to support organisational events, programs, or operational needs as required.

Position & Tasks
