The Musée d’art et d’histoire (MAH) is a dynamic institution with a wealth of expertise, which is now shaping its future. Its bold museum project explores new ways of bringing the collection to life and welcoming visitors. In multi-frequency mode, it is reinventing itself as a dynamic cultural hub and a laboratory of ideas to ensure that it remains contemporary. To complete its management team, the MAH is looking for an 80-100% Curator responsible for the exhibitions sector.

Your mission and responsibilities

– Guarantee the quality of presentations to the public in line with the institution’s artistic and curatorial vision, as well as its objectives in terms of brand awareness.

– Chair the programming committee and ensure that decisions taken are in line with the overall strategy defined by the Director.

– Coordinate the programming, planning and implementation of exhibitions.

– Ensure the production of exhibitions, involving all stakeholders and translating content and scientific objectives into a formal and narrative space in line with the curatorial charter.

– Participate in meetings of the Management Committee and advise the Director in establishing the institution’s cultural policy. Participate in meetings of the Management Committee and advise the Director on the establishment of the institution’s cultural policy.

– Supervise the Exhibitions Department in terms of organization, methodology, administration, finance and human resources.

– Manage the department’s team, fostering a collaborative and motivating working environment.

Conditions of employment

Employees of the City of Geneva must be domiciled in the authorized domiciliation zone and hold a valid work permit or authorization.

Eligibility:

– Higher education (minimum Master’s degree) in history or art history, supplemented by a diploma in museology or any other training combined with professional experience deemed equivalent.
– 10 years’ experience in a position of responsibility, including managerial experience, preferably in a museum environment.
– Proven track record in managing large-scale projects, in particular the enhancement of heritage collections.

– Demonstrate creativity, pragmatism, analytical skills and a capacity for synthesis.
– Demonstrate strong negotiating skills, good interpersonal skills, leadership and the ability to bring people together.
– Maintain a broad and solid network in artistic, cultural and scientific circles, both nationally and internationally.
