The Museum Rietberg is dedicated to the art of traditional but also contemporary cultures of Africa, America, Asia and Oceania as well as their diasporas. With around one hundred employees, it is one of the largest art museums and most internationally renowned art museums in Switzerland.

The Role Overview

For strategic exhibition planning and support of operational project management, we are looking for a committed and technically experienced personality as an exhibition manager as of February 1, 2026 or by appointment.

Position & Tasks

  • You will be responsible for the central project management for the major special exhibitions as well as for all large-scale cross-departmental projects.
  • You will implement the exhibitions and major projects on time and within the framework of the financial requirements in coordination with the management, the financial management, and all those involved in the project.
  • As a central point of contact, you will coordinate schedules, communication, and organizational processes between various departments and external partners.
  • They coordinate and manage contracts, licensing, and necessary permits.
  • You will be responsible for the evaluation and documentation of projects, meetings, and decisions.

Who Can Apply?

  • University studies related to art and culture, including a specialization in project management
  • Strong project management skills with a high willingness to cooperate and very good communication skills as well as a strong service orientation
  • Networked and intercultural thinking and acting as well as high resilience and ability to work in a team
  • Stylistically confident in the following languages: German and English (French is desirable; other language skills are an advantage)
  • IT affinity, experience in dealing with conventional tools in project management (MS Project, planners, teams, etc.)
