Abington Art Center (AAC) is a nonprofit community art center in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania (on a 27-acre historic campus), offering gallery exhibitions, classes, workshops, a sculpture park and public programs. It supports both emerging and experienced artists by providing exhibition opportunities, community outreach, and exposure to its local/regional audience.

Title & Description

Nocturne: Artworks Exploring the Night — Juried Exhibition at Abington Art Center
This is a juried show seeking submissions of artworks that explore themes of night: night sky, nocturnal light or darkness, winter evenings, and other interpretations of “night.” Selected works will be exhibited in the Community Gallery during the “Nocturne” exhibition, which coincides with the center’s light-themed winter event, giving participating artists a chance to have their work seen by a wide audience.

  • Visual Art — 2-Dimensional works (painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, mixed media, etc.)
  • Works suitable for wall display (“ready-to-hang”)

Eligibility

  • Artists aged 18 years or older.
  • Open to any artist meeting the submission requirements (no explicit geographic restriction mentioned — presumably national / U.S.-based).

Program Benefits & Awards

  • Exhibition of selected works in AAC’s Community Gallery.
  • Exposure to public visiting the center, especially during AAC’s “light show / night walk” (which draws large audiences).
  • Artists may offer their work for sale. (AAC applies a commission policy: 70% to the artist, 30% to AAC)

Application Fee

There is a submission fee of $10.

Application Requirements

  • Submission of one artwork per artist.
  • The artwork must be 2-D, ready-to-hang on a wall (wired), and its maximum size must be 48″ × 48″ (width × height).
  • Submission images should be 150–300 ppi, saved with artist name and work title. (One image of the work + optionally one detail image).
  • For sales: if the work sells, the artist receives 70%, AAC takes 30% commission.

  • Only one artwork per artist is allowed for this call.

  • For sculptures, mixed media or 3-D works — this call is not open to them (only 2-D accepted).
  • Artists are responsible for all shipping costs (outgoing and return) when opting for mailed submission.
