Organizer Information

Kunstwerk Carlshütte is a non-profit cultural initiative based in Büdelsdorf, Germany, known for its work in contemporary art and cultural programming. Since 1999, it has organized NordArt, an annual international contemporary art exhibition presenting works by more than 200 selected artists from around the world. The exhibition takes place at the historic Carlshütte iron foundry and its surrounding sculpture park, creating an expansive setting for contemporary artistic practices. NordArt also collaborates with international curators, cultural institutions, and embassies on special projects.

Title & Description

NordArt 2027

NordArt 2027 – International Call for Artists invites artists from around the world to submit works for the 2027 edition of one of Europe's major annual contemporary art exhibitions. The exhibition explores diverse cultural perspectives and connections between different regions, with artworks presented in dialogue with the monumental industrial architecture and outdoor spaces of the Carlshütte site.

NordArt 2027 will take place across 22,000 m² of indoor exhibition space, an 80,000 m² sculpture park, and the 400 m² ACO Wagenremise. Artists may also propose projects developed or installed specifically on site through the Artist in Residence option.

Eligibility

The call is international and open to artists from around the world. Both established and emerging artists are eligible to apply. Applicants may submit existing artworks for consideration or, where appropriate, propose an on-site project through the Artist in Residence option.

Additional Details

The professional jury includes curators, artists, an art historian, and members of the supervisory board. Due to the large number of applications, unsuccessful applicants will not receive individual notifications.

Selected artists must provide catalogue materials within 10 days of confirmation. NordArt insures artworks from their arrival until collection after the exhibition. Artists should note that submitted application materials are not returned.
