Title & Description

Open Call 2027 — O—Overgaden Exhibition Program

  • O—Overgaden invites artists to apply to be part of its 2027 exhibition program.
  • Rather than asking for a ready-made exhibition proposal, the call asks artists to submit based on their overall artistic practice: its development over recent years, methods, ongoing transformations, and envisioned future directions.
  • The institution aims to adapt to the artist’s practice rather than asking the artist to adapt to a fixed institutional framework. This allows room for experimentation, unexpected turns, material or conceptual shifts — supporting the evolution of the work in close collaboration between the artist and O—Overgaden’s curatorial and technical team.
  • The open call is focused on solo shows — whether a single artist, an artist duo, a collective, or an artist working with a curator.

Categories

  • Visual Arts (Painting, Sculpture, Installation)
  • Mixed Media, Conceptual Art

Eligibility

  • Artists — Danish and international — are welcome to apply.

  • There is no strict mention of age, career stage, or nationality restrictions — emphasis is on practice, not background.

  • The call emphasizes experimental, emerging, and socially or critically engaged artistic practices, aiming to support new voices, new media, and underrepresented artistic positions.
  • The institution aims at diversity, equity, and inclusion — selection is not based on background but on quality, vision, and relevance of practice.
  • The exhibition production is often large‑scale, and O—Overgaden supports artists to fundraise and plan budgets — collaboration and flexibility are central.
  • Because O—Overgaden receives hundreds of applications per cycle (estimates 500–600), the call is very competitive — it's important to present a clear, compelling description of your practice and potential.
