SOLAS / SHADOW Gallery is an independent virtual platform dedicated to showcasing contemporary photography from global creators. Portrait / Landscape Exhibition 2026.
This open call investigates the conceptual and formal polarity between two of photography’s most foundational genres: the representation of place versus the representation of person. While the intimacy of a portrait and the environmental grandeur of a landscape can seem starkly separated, both depend on identical photographic tenets: the calibration of light and shade, the mapping of geometric shapes, and careful spatial composition. Photographers are invited to explore this relationship fluidly, whether focusing tightly on one genre, juxtaposing both, or blending them into unified, thought-provoking imagery.

- Global Scope: Open to photography enthusiasts, amateurs, and professionals worldwide.
- Age: Entrants must be 18 years of age or older at the time of submission.
Program Benefits and Awards
Selected photographers will have their work featured in a dedicated, high-traffic virtual exhibition launching in August 2026. Additional benefits include:
- Global Digital Showcase: Work displayed in a beautifully curated online gallery on the official website.
- Multi-Channel Promotion: Featured placement across the gallery’s active social media networks and dedicated video showcases on the gallery's YouTube channel.
- Exhibition Catalogue: Inclusion in the official Portrait / Landscape exhibition catalog, distributed worldwide in both digital (PDF) and physical formats.
- Credentials: A professional digital certificate of participation to enhance artistic CVs.
Fees & Financial Structure
- Submission Fee: None (Completely free to enter up to 5 images).
- Participation Fee (Selected Artists Only): If chosen by the selection panel for the final exhibition, a tier-based participation fee applies to help cover digital upkeep, catalog formatting, and marketing:
- £16 if exactly 1 image is selected.
- £22 if 2 or more images are selected.
Application Requirements (File Specifications)
Submissions must be sent directly via file transfer platforms (such as WeTransfer, SwissTransfer, or Smash) and conform to the following guidelines:
- Format: Images must be submitted in JPG format.
- File Naming Mandate: Files must be named clearly using your name and sequence number (e.g., Ann-Smith1.jpg, Ann-Smith2.jpg).
- Required Email Content: The submission message must explicitly contain:
- Your full name and surname.
- Your current location and/or nationality.
- Direct links to your professional website and/or social media profiles.
- A brief biography (restricted to a maximum of two sentences).
- Titles for each submitted image (where applicable).

Additional Details
Artists retain full and undisputed copyright over their submitted imagery. By entering, selected creators grant the gallery a non-exclusive license to utilize the photographs across its webpage, promotional banners, social networks, and print/digital publications to publicize the exhibition.
