Short Description
The municipality of Elin Pelin is announcing an international architectural competition. It is looking for a new, contemporary look for the city center, renovation of public spaces, and creation of a modern, attractive, and comfortable living environment. The competition is open to participation and welcomes ideas from around the world.
Competition Scope
The project is divided into two parts – Concept design for Zone 1: City center area within the scope of the roundabout at Stoyan Mihaylovski Street and Sofia Street, along the entire length of Sofia Street to the square in front of the Church of “St. Nicholay Chudotvorets”, including the existing parking lot, Nezavisimost Square and along the pedestrian zone on Vitosha Boulevard to Hristo Botev Street, and Development for Zone 2: Surrounding area – Standard for the elements of the urban environment and typical details
Eligibility
All Bulgarian and foreign natural person, legal entities, as well as their associations or other entities authorized to perform the activities covered by this public procurement under the legislation of their country of establishment, are eligible to participate in the competition without restriction. Each person participating in the competition has the right to submit only one project.
A person who participates in an association or has agreed to act as a subcontractor to another candidate or participant may not submit an individual application for participation or a separate project.
A branch of a foreign entity may participate independently in this procedure if, under the legislation of its country of establishment, it is authorized to submit applications on its own behalf.
Persons who, as of the date of submission of the competition project, do not hold design qualifications may participate, provided that they undertake to include in their team licensed designers with full design capacity in the event that they are ranked among the finalists and invited to enter into negotiations
for subsequent contracting.

- First Prize: 10,000 euros
- Second Prize: 7,000 euros
- Third Prize: 3,000 euros
- Two Honorary Mentions of 1,000 euros each.
- The municipality of Elin Pelin will commission a technical and working design with an estimated value of €125,000 for design services, excluding VAT.
