Short Description
RN13BIS, under the impetus of the DRAC Normandie and the Normandy Region, initiated Bigger Slash to allow three artists to devote themselves fully to the development of their practice with support over 3 years promoting their registration in professional networks of the visual arts.
The first year will allow for artistic research, prospecting, the development of new partnerships and the improvement of working conditions. The second year will aim to specify a project for dissemination, creation, mobility and registration in professional networks. The third year will see the culmination of the steps taken as defined jointly with the artist.
The artist will appoint an artistic referent who undertakes to dialogue regularly with the artist during the three years. This person can be an employee in a regional or non-regional artistic structure, be an exhibition curator or an art critic. The referent sends a letter of recommendation as part of the call for applications. This support gives rise to a remuneration of 1,000 euros including tax per year.
No co-financing is necessary. The award committee will be very attentive to the quality of the artistic approach and its sustainability; the beginning of the artist’s inclusion in identified professional networks; as well as its development potential.
Eligible expenses: A significant part of the aid is intended to support the artist’s artistic research and prospecting time. The development project may include: rental or purchase of a studio, acquisition of material or equipment, orders for texts or photographs of previous artistic works, professional missions in France and abroad, etc.
