Short Description:
Sandberg Institut and If I Can’t Dance invite applications for the role of Head of the Temporary MA Programme Performance as Methodology: Body as Memory (2026–2028). This full-time, two-year MA programme investigates performance as a research methodology and explores the body as a site of memory. The Head will design and lead the curriculum in close collaboration with both institutions, supported by a team of tutors and staff.
Responsibilities Include
- Designing a pedagogical framework rooted in performance methodologies and embodied knowledge
- Teaching and supporting a diverse, inclusive cohort of MA students
- Integrating discourses such as feminist, queer, decolonial and disability studies into the programme
- Collaborating closely with teams at Sandberg Instituut and If I Can’t Dance

In your motivation, please articulate how your approach to the role of head of programme would relate to the fields of inquiry from a pedagogical perspective based on your current (research) practice and previous experience.
Eligibility:
Must reside in or relocate to the Netherlands and be registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KVK)
- Deep knowledge of performance genealogies and methodologies
- Demonstrated experience or interest in the concept of the body as memory
- Visual arts background with strong grasp of performance studies
- Experience in education, especially in collaborative and experimental settings
- Committed to inclusive pedagogical practices and accessibility
- Registered with the KVK and, if non-EU, holds a valid Dutch work/residence permit
