Künstlergut Prösitz e.V. is a Saxon artists' house located in the village of Prösitz, near Grimma, between Leipzig and Dresden. For roughly three decades, the association has restored a mid-19th-century three-sided farmstead (Dreiseithof) according to historic-preservation principles, gradually creating living spaces, studios, and workshops for artistic work. The organization's core mission is to support women sculptors with children by offering them working opportunities alongside childcare, and to realize public art projects and public programming. Künstlergut Prösitz has run its annual symposium for professional female artists for many years, with results regularly exhibited at the Rathausgalerie Grimma and, on its 25th anniversary, at the Bürgerforum of the Saxon State Parliament (Landtag) in Dresden. The Saxon artists' house Künstlergut Prösitz announces a four-week scholarship symposium, described as unique in Europe, taking place annually between May and October. The scholarship is aimed at female artists working in sculpture, installation, and object art, with all forms of experimental work within these genres also welcomed. The symposium's specific aim is to enable professional artists to create sculptural and installation work over four working weeks at the Künstlergut. Its distinguishing feature is that it is aimed at female artists who are also mothers: the Prösitz symposium allows participants to bring their children (up to age 12) with them, with on-site childcare provided by a childminder throughout the residency, so that the women can devote themselves to their artistic work while exchanging ideas and networking with colleagues in the same life situation.

Eligibility

Program Benefits & Awards
