Black / White; International Photography Exhibition 2026
Solas / Shadow has launched the open call for Black / White, an international photography exhibition exploring monochrome aesthetics. By stripping away color, the exhibition highlights form, mood, shape, contrast, and narrative. The call invites diverse photographic interpretations of monochrome imagery—from documentary and street photography to portraiture, landscape, abstraction, and fine art—examining how monochrome continues to shape our understanding of the contemporary world.
Categories
The call accepts Monochrome & Black and White Photography across all genres, including Documentary, Street Photography, Portraiture, Landscape, Abstraction, Fine Art, and Conceptual Photography.
Eligibility
- Geographic Scope: Open unconditionally to photographers worldwide.
- Age Requirement: Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
- Experience Level: Open to emerging, underrepresented, and established image-makers at all stages of practice.
Program Benefits & Awards
- Online Exhibition: Selected works will be featured in a curated online gallery showcase on the Solas / Shadow platform.
- Catalog Feature: Inclusion in both a physical and digital PDF Exhibition Catalogue.
- Digital Credentials: Selected participants receive an official digital certificate of participation.

Application Fee
- Submission Fee: Free to submit (£0 entry fee).
- Participation Fee (Selected Artists Only): Photographers whose work is selected pay a participation fee to support production and hosting:
- £16 for 1 selected image
- £22 for 2 or more selected images
Application Requirements
- Image Volume & Format: Submit up to 5 images per open call in JPG format.
- File Naming Protocol: Files must be named using your name and sequence number (e.g.,
Ann-Smith1.jpg,Ann-Smith2.jpg). - Email Dossier Information:
- Full name and surname
- Location and/or nationality
- Social media and/or website links
- Short biography (maximum 1–2 sentences)
- Image titles (if applicable)
How to Apply
Send your entry details and JPG files using a cloud file transfer service (such as Smash, Swiss Transfer, or WeTransfer) directly to the gallery submission inbox.

Additional Details
Artists retain full copyright to their submitted works. By submitting, artists grant Solas / Shadow permission to display selected images on the gallery's website, social channels, YouTube platform, exhibition catalogs, and related promotional materials.
