Short Description
The International Solo Dance Theatre Festival provides an up-to-date overview of the latest developments in the young solo dance theatre scene. Choreographers and dancers from all over the world present a solo piece that offers a new, original, imaginative and unusual performance with its own style. Choreography as well as dramaturgy, dance, musicality and the presentation as a whole are judged and awarded.
Eligibility
Participation 1. Young choreographers can apply with a contemporary solo piece that will be premiered or is no more than one year old at the time of performance at the festival in March 2026. The duration of the performance must be between 9 and 12 minutes. The choreographies are to be developed on the basis of a contemporary and, above all, individual movement language. The choice of themes and music is optional. The piece can be interpreted by the choreographer himself or herself or by a dancer. The age limit for the dancer is 30 years.
Technical data:
Stage: stage size 10m x 8.50m, black dance floor, black notice with alleys; Backdrop Black or Gray Stone Wall;
Standard light: Flat, backlight warm and cold; Alleys hot and cold, 1 dimming circuit for a special (for a single lamp); Sound carriers: CD, USB;
Only easily transportable props are permitted for the stage set, the assembly and dismantling of which do not delay the programme. In addition, they must comply with fire protection class B1 (flame retardant). It is not possible to hang objects. A final test is the responsibility of the event technology of the vhs stuttgart. Materials (sand, water, stones, flour, powder, pearls, marbles, etc.) that soil the stage, cause too much cleaning after the performance or pose too great a risk of accidents are not permitted.
On the day of the performance, each participant has a maximum of 75 minutes to set up the stage, lighting and rehearsal.

Prizes to a total value of € 16.000 will be awarded. Before the award winners are paid, the organizer is obliged to deduct tax from the prize money.
