Short Description
The Künstler*dorf Schöppingen Foundation supports international artists by organizing an Artist-in-Residence program. Grant holders are able to focus on their work without time or financial pressure. The guiding principle of the Stiftung Künstler*dorf Schöppingen is that of a social space that promotes cross-disciplinary artistic exchange and personal and professional development in international dialogue. This results in innovation potentials as well as opportunities for reflection on an individual, structural and global level.
Eligibility
Professional visual artists, authors and composers are eligible to apply. Since 2023, applications from collectives are also accepted. The call is open to people of all nationalities and ages. Accommodation for partners, family members or assistance can be provided upon agreement and availability. Program Benefits & Awards
Stipends are 1,500 euros per month, minus approximately 100 to 200 euros for rent and operating expenses. The stipend for collectives is 1,000 euro per person, but a maximum of 3,000 euro minus rent and operating costs. Travel, insurance or material costs will only be covered in exceptional cases (in case of scholarship approval and need, please contact us).
The period of the residency, with a duration between two to six months, can be chosen according to agreement and availability. The fellowship requires that the grant holders reside and work at Künstler*dorf during the period of the residency.
During the stay, the premises and infrastructure of the Künstler*dorf can be used. The fellowship is not designed as a production fellowship and there is no obligation to present work results. However, there is the possibility to use exhibition and presentation facilities. In addition, we welcome the voluntary co-organization of events, in the form of lectures, readings, workshops or the like.
In line with the profile and program of the Künstler*dorf, a willingness to participate in events, exchange amongst fellows and engage with one another is a prerequisite.
