The Visual Arts Center of Richmond (VisArts) is a community arts center and nonprofit. Each year, the organization touches the lives of more than 50,000 people through its classes, exhibitions, community programs, camps, and special events.
Title & Description:
The Visual Arts Center of Richmond’s Studio Access Residency is designed to support emerging and established visual artists and writers as they develop new ideas and to foster artistic exploration by providing free access to VisArts’ 17 communal studio spaces.

Eligibility:
Studio Access Residents can be established or emerging artists working in a range of visual art and craft-based materials. Artists must be over the age of 18 and have some experience in the studios they wish to work in, however, we will provide opportunities for training and orientation. Applicants who have already participated in the Studio Access Residency are not eligible to reapply.

In person in Richmond, Virginia.
Key Dates:
Submission deadline is 11:59pm on Sunday, August 3rd 2025.
Applications are open for the fall/winter session of this residency, which will begin on November 1st 2025 and end on April 30th 2026.

VisArts’ Studio Access Residency supports artists by offering access to well-equipped studios, studio demos and skill shares, cultivating a diverse exchange of ideas among peers, offering a tuition-free class, and providing the opportunity for a group exhibition in our True F. Luck Gallery.
Additional Details:
This residency does not provide housing or relocation support. Applicants should already reside in the Richmond area, or otherwise plan to be in proximity to Richmond to participate in this residency opportunity.
