Organizer Information
STUDIOS 94 is a newly launched, five-floor multidisciplinary creative complex and art ecosystem located on Huay Kaew Road in the absolute center of Chiang Mai, Thailand. Conceived by a working artist for fellow creative practitioners, the facility operates as a centralized nexus combining a street-level contemporary art gallery, private production suites, dynamic co-working zones, a media studio for movement/photography, and open-air rooftop event terraces. Positioned directly adjacent to a major regional art supply store, the facility eliminates everyday logistical friction, offering an environment where private exploration seamlessly intersects with public cultural visibility.
Title & Description
STUDIOS 94 Residency and Studio Programs (2026 Cycle).
This rolling open call invites local and international contemporary artists, makers, and researchers to immerse themselves in Thailand’s creative capital. Chiang Mai, a designated UNESCO Creative City, serves as a living laboratory providing access to specialized heritage craft villages alongside world-class contemporary art institutions. The program offers a supportive, self-led environment for serious visual experimentation, critical inquiry, and technical prototyping. Depending on the selected track, participants engage with fellow residents in a horizontal community setting, share technical skills, and transition their studio practice into professional public spotlights.
Available Program Tracks:
- Track 1: The Residency Program (2-Month Mandatory Cycle): A structured, production-heavy immersion combining research, intense fabrication, and institutional curation. Residents are allocated a private double bedroom on-site paired with a dedicated desk within the shared open workshop. The residency culminates in a formal, fully produced group exhibition at 94 Gallery, inclusive of promotional opening nights, curated artist talks, and public guided studio tours.
- Track 2: The Studio Program (Monthly Workspace): A flexible, workspace-only format designed for self-directed artists seeking focused, independent production time without accommodation. Members receive a dedicated studio desk inside the professional shared Artist Studio and participate directly in monthly Public Studio Showcases, open studio mixers, and community networking events.
