About the role
Sullivan+Strumpf is looking for a proactive and solutions-oriented Gallery Assistant to assist with the day to-day operations at our Singapore studio. Reporting to the Associate Director, this role is responsible for maintain the presentation of the studio, assisting in exhibition preparation, preparing and packaging
artworks for shipment, and general administrative tasks.
This is a part-time position, 9am to 5pm Thursday to Saturday, with presence at evening events and art fairs as required.

Essential Requirements

  • 3 years’ experience in a museum or gallery in a similar role
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Experience working with software applications/databases used to maintain and update
    collection information
  • Knowledge of appropriate techniques/procedures for handling, transportation and storage of
    artworks
  • Can work independently
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Full driver’s license

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintaining Singapore stockroom and studio space
  • Assisting Associate Director with administrative tasks
  • Support exhibition and art fair preparations, including liaising with artist liaisons about
    installation, crating and freight
  • Assist install/deinstall of exhibitions, including ability to manage lifting and carrying artworks
    and equipment
  • Liaise with other gallery staff regarding information requests and all aspects of inventory and
    exhibition management: production, shipping, framing, photography, research etc.
  • General upkeep of stockrooms, and knowledge artwork movements and locations
  • File incoming and outgoing forms, complete condition reports and shipping documents
  • Oversee consignment and loan agreements, including transport to museums, galleries, clients
    and artists

The chosen candidate will already be based in Singapore, have exceptional attention to detail and be highly organised. They can take initiative and perform multiple tasks under pressure while maintaining flexibility, patience, and a friendly attitude. The Gallery Assistant will support the staff and artists to achieve their shared artistic, creative and business goals.
