Short Description
Surel’s Place offers a one-month residency in Garden City, Idaho, for professional visual, literary, and performance artists. The program provides artists with a quiet space to focus on their work while engaging with the local community through public workshops and events.
Duration: One month (extensions may be possible)
Theme & Requirements
Artists must commit to a focused use of the residency without external employment.
Participation in at least one public workshop (2–3 hours).
Visual artists must present a show or lecture, and writers must offer a reading and discussion session.
Visual artists must donate one piece to Surel’s Place for fundraising.
Writers must allow Surel’s Place to publish an excerpt of their work.
A commission on sales applies (35% for artworks, 45% for offsite ticketed events, 15% for books/CDs).
Eligibility
Open to professional artists (visual, literary, and performance)
Must be 25 years or older
Non-smokers only
No children or pets allowed (partners may join but require approval)

Selection Process
Applications are reviewed by a jury of Boise-based artists and professionals.
