Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (Museo Reina Sofía) is Spain's national museum of modern and contemporary art, based in Madrid. It is a member of L'Internationale, a confederation of European museums, and organizes this call through its Study Centre (Centro de Estudios) as part of Museum of the Commons, a four-year cultural cooperation project (2023–2026) implemented by L'Internationale and co-funded by the European Union's Creative Europe programme.

Research Residencies in Sustainable Artistic Production, within L'Internationale's Museum of the Commons – Climate Programme
Museo Reina Sofía is calling for two research residencies addressing the Climate strand of the Museum of the Commons programme, which explores the sustainability of institutional, artistic, and cultural practices in response to the global climate crisis. Each four-month residency supports an individual or collective research project that does not require continuous on-site presence at the Museum and may be carried out elsewhere as the research requires. At the conclusion of the residency, researchers present their process in a format agreed jointly with the Study Centre team.

Eligibility
- Individual applicants must be natural persons at least 18 years of age
- Collective applications (groups of natural persons at least 18 years of age) are permitted; no formal legal relationship among members is required, but the group must designate one representative for all communications and legal obligations
- Applicants must not fall within the grounds for exclusion set out in Article 13 of Spain's General Subsidies Act (Ley 38/2003)
- Applicants without legal residency in Spain must submit a scanned copy of personal ID and a scanned copy and translation of their fiscal residency certificate
- Applicants with a university degree awarded outside Spain must submit a scanned copy of the degree and its official homologation when needed
- Proposed research must fall within the Climate strand of the Museum of the Commons programme

- Applications are assessed on a maximum of 10 points: up to 4 points for the applicant's profile and professional experience (averaged across members for collective applications), and up to 6 points for the research proposal (originality, quality, rigor, relevance to the Study Centre's and Climate strand's priorities, and feasibility)
- Applicants scoring above 8 points are invited to an interview (in person or online) worth up to 4 additional points
- Residencies are awarded to the two highest-scoring applications
- Applicants must sign a Do No Significant Harm (DNSH) declaration confirming compliance with EU environmental regulations under the Recovery and Resilience Facility
- Recipients' names will be published on the MNCARS website per Spanish transparency law
