NOISE Education is a Bulgarian academy for visual arts based in Sofia, offering photography education ranging from foundational instruction to advanced preparation for international art academies. The "Talent of the Year" award is presented in memory of Tsvetan Tomchev (1960–2023), a Bulgarian photojournalist born in Lovech who trained in photography and Bulgarian philology, and who spent roughly three decades working for newspapers including Standart and Trud. Tomchev organized Bulgaria's national photojournalism exhibition BgPressPhoto from 2002 onward, chaired the BgPressPhoto Foundation, initiated Sofia Photo Fest in 2013, and taught photojournalism at New Bulgarian University and at Bulgaria's National Vocational School of Polygraphy and Photography. He authored documentary films and books on Bulgarian photojournalism history, including The Great Photojournalists of Bulgaria.

"Talent of the Year" — Special Award Named after Tsvetan Tomchev
NOISE Education has announced application guidelines for "Talent of the Year," a special award honoring the memory of photojournalist and mentor Tsvetan Tomchev. The award is aimed at young creators up to age 26 working in photojournalism, documentary photography, and visual storytelling. Its stated goal is to discover and support emerging visual storytellers who demonstrate a strong personal perspective and the ability to construct a narrative through imagery. The winner receives photographic equipment provided by Sony Bulgaria and free participation in the NOISE Education mentorship program, which will support further development and presentation of their project.

Eligibility

- The organizers' jury decisions are final and cannot be appealed
