The Biennale seeks to explore the evolution of ceramics by investigating its deep-rooted connection with both traditional and contemporary practices, while incorporating modern technological innovations. The theme for 2026 is focused on ceramic art's future and its intersection with global cultures.

The Biennale will feature innovative works by ceramic artists and explore the relationship between ceramics and craftsmanship, technology, community, and environmental development.

Eligibility

The Biennale is open to ceramic artists, designers, students, and interdisciplinary creators worldwide. There are no restrictions based on nationality, age, or gender.

Program Benefits & Awards

  • Jinglan Prize: CNY 300,000 (before tax) + certificate + exhibition catalogue.
  • Kaolin Prize: CNY 100,000 (before tax) per recipient + certificate + exhibition catalogue (5 recipients).
  • Dowstone Art Prize: CNY 60,000 (before tax) per recipient + certificate + exhibition catalogue (10 recipients).
  • Guozhong Emerging Artist Prize: CNY 12,000 (before tax) per recipient + certificate + exhibition catalogue (50 recipients).
  • Finalist Prizes: Certificate + exhibition catalogue for all finalists.

Application Requirements

  • Personal profile (max 200 words), including a personal photo and artwork photos.
  • For group works, provide a list of team members.
  • One entry per category (Vessel, Sculpture, Installation, Painting, or Video).
  • High-resolution images of the artwork (minimum 300 DPI, 5MB).
  • Video works should adhere to technical specifications (15 minutes max, H.264 MP4 format, stereo audio).
  • Other specific submission requirements for each category (e.g., installation instructions for installations).

  • Step 1: Register via the submission portal.
  • Step 2: Complete the application form and upload the necessary documents and artwork images.
  • Step 3: Submit the application by clicking "Submit" in the portal.

Key Dates

  • Application Deadline: 25 December 2025
  • Preliminary Review: Early January 2026
  • Preliminary Results Announcement: January 20, 2026
  • Artwork Delivery: January 21 to May 20, 2026
  • Final Review: Late June 2026.
  • Exhibition Dates: June 26, 2026 – March 31, 2027.

Additional Details

  • Works must be created within the last three years and not previously awarded in major international competitions.
  • The work must focus on the intersection of ceramics with tradition, technology, and culture.
  • A maximum of 2 meters for individual works and 6 square meters for installations.
  • Transportation and insurance costs are borne by the participants.
