The One Minutes Foundation is an independent nonprofit organization that originated in 1998 through students of the Sandberg Instituut and has operated independently since 2017. It produces and distributes one-minute videos as an international platform for creation, participation, and connection. Its collection contains more than 18,000 video works by artists from over 120 countries and is preserved by the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision.

The One Minutes Participate: Video Art Open Call
The One Minutes – Participate is an ongoing international submission opportunity for artists and filmmakers working with the moving image. Participants can submit original 60-second films to The One Minutes Collection or respond to specific themed open calls curated for future One Minutes Series.
Submitted works can be considered for curated series, installations, exhibitions, and film festivals. Current and past series have explored a wide range of artistic, social, cultural, and experimental themes, allowing artists to use the one-minute format for visual storytelling, conceptual experimentation, performance, and moving-image art.
The current Participate page lists “language at play, language at fault”, curated by Daryna Mamaisur, with a final deadline of 12 October 2026. It also lists other open-call themes, including Elections and citizenM.
Artists may also submit a film to the general collection (No Category) when it does not correspond to a current open-call theme. Such submissions may be considered for future opportunities.

Eligibility
The opportunity is international and open to artists and filmmakers from around the world. The One Minutes Collection demonstrates participation from artists in more than 120 countries. Specific themed open calls may have additional theme-related requirements, so applicants should check the individual call before submitting.

Additional Details
Each submitted video must be exactly 60 seconds and use a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio. Credits do not need to appear within the video. The preferred technical export is MXF OP1a using The One Minutes' template; alternatively, applicants can submit the highest-quality format available, such as Apple ProRes 422.
The same video cannot normally be submitted twice. If a work is already part of The One Minutes Collection and the artist wants to submit it to an open call, they should contact The One Minutes directly. Applicants should also review the organization's copyright terms before submission.
