Short Description:

The successful candidate will lead the curatorial and learning team in the development of creative and innovative ideas to support the Foundation’s objectives to educate, preserve and enhance the cultural and heritage assets.

Working closely with the CEO and Board of Trustees, the Head of Collections and Engagement will help shape strategic initiatives that raise the profile of the house, collections and wider estate. This work will focus on expanding access for both existing and new diverse audiences, while building a commercially sustainable, culturally rich programme.

The role combines curatorial leadership with strategic oversight of both formal and informal learning. It will ensure that the exhibitions, events and educational resources are imaginative, inclusive and accessible. In collaboration with educational partners and the in-house teams, learning initiatives will be designed and delivered that will deepen public engagement with the history and heritage of Weston Park.

Eligibility:

  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong curatorial background ideally gained within a heritage or historic setting
  • Thorough understanding of audience development, learning theory, diversity and inclusion
  • Good understanding of the latest innovations within cultural environments
  • Experience of collections management
  • Experience of generating revenue within a similar environment
  • Proven track record of designing and delivering learning/education programmes in cultural or educational settings
  • Experience of managing budgets and procurement
  • Strong leadership and team management skills to oversee a diverse team of staff and volunteers
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address complex operational issues.
  • Experience of developing partnerships and stakeholder management
  • IT & Digital Skills, including Excel and Word
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise work
  • Full UK driving licence.
