The Institute for Art History in the Department of Philology/Cultural Studies is seeking to fill, at the earliest possible date, the position of Research Associate (f/m/d).

The Role Overview

  • This is a 50% part-time position (currently 19.5 hours per week)
  • The contract is fixed-term until September 30, 2029
  • Employment follows the German Act on Fixed-Term Scientific Contracts (WissZeitVG)

Position & Tasks

  • Supporting the Junior Professorship in Art Theory and Art History in teaching and research
  • Contributing to the conceptualization and implementation of research projects and conferences
  • Independent teaching in art and cultural studies (2 teaching hours per week)
  • Academic qualification through doctoral research in modern and contemporary art
  • Participation in academic self-governance tasks

  • Completed university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Art History or related field, excluding Bachelor’s degrees
  • Specialization in 20th/21st century art and/or architectural history
  • Brief exposé (max. 3 pages) outlining the proposed doctoral project related to at least one of these fields:

    • Performance art
    • Museum and exhibition history
    • Political art
    • Art and social movements
    • Educational architecture
    • Architecture and society
