Upper Austria State Prize

Short Description

Every year, the province of Upper Austria awards state prizes for culture as well as talent promotion bonuses in recognition of outstanding artistic, cultural and scientific achievements.

Eligibility

In 2025, state prizes will be awarded in the following categories:

Visual arts
Literature
Experimental and Interdisciplinary Forms of Artistic Work
Cultural Studies and Humaniti

Applicant from the age of 36
Comes from Upper Austria or has been permanently resident or centre of vital interest in Upper Austria for at least four years, or
the artistic or scientific work is of outstanding importance for Upper Austria.
Applicants must be authors within the meaning of Section 10 (1) of the Copyright Act.
groups of persons who predominantly come from Upper Austria and apply with a joint project, provided that the group members are co-authors within the meaning of § 11 para. 1 and 2 UrhG of a joint work and all co-authors of this joint work apply.
Until the age of 35. If proof of child-raising periods is provided, the age limit increases up to the age of 40, a maximum of 3 years per child, a maximum of 5 years in total.

Program Benefits & Awards

The state prizes for culture are each endowed with 7,500 euros and are awarded for outstanding artistic work.

The talent promotion bonuses are endowed with 5,400 euros each.
