Title & Description

The Viadukt Edition Residency Program is a specialized workshop residency opportunity focused on supporting the artistic production of mid-career and established women artists. The primary objective is to enhance the visibility of female artists aged 40 and over while providing them with dedicated resources to create new work. The program centers on the intensive exploration and integration of screen printing technology into the artist’s existing practice. Participants are given a unique, collaborative experience, working closely with professional printers and other contemporary artists within the Viadukt Werkstatt environment. The residency is designed to be independent, allowing the artist full creative control, while benefiting from the stimulating atmosphere and expert guidance available on-site.

Categories

The open call is broad, inviting applications from artists working across All Disciplines (e.g., Visual Art, Painting, Sculpture, Photography, Literature, Performance). However, the core focus of the residency is the creation of work using the Screen Printing (Siebdruck) Technique. While prior extensive knowledge of printmaking is not strictly required, a basic level of familiarity with the medium is highly recommended to maximize the benefits of the workshop setting.

Eligibility

This opportunity is specifically designated for Women Artists who identify as women and are at least 40 years of age. The call aims to support this demographic by providing essential resources and visibility. Applications are welcomed from artists of all disciplines, nationally and internationally. The organizer explicitly encourages artists who are currently Vienna-based and lack dedicated studio space to submit their proposals, prioritizing local access to production facilities.

Program Benefits & Awards

The selected artist will receive a highly coveted Residency Slot at the Viadukt Werkstatt. The principal benefit is the chance to produce a significant new body of work through close, sustained collaboration with professional printers. The program includes a basic introduction to screen printing, providing the necessary foundational knowledge. Artists gain a professional platform, increased visibility, and the opportunity to network with other contemporary artists and art professionals in Vienna.
