Short Description

Since 1991, the Filmbüro Bremen has been awarding the Videokunst Förderpreis. The current call for applications runs until 31.07.2025. The exhibition of the works for the 29th Videokunst Förderpreis will take place from 14.08. – 19.09.2026 at Galerie Mitte (galeriemitte.eu).

Eligibility

Artists from German-speaking countries and Bremerhaven’s twin cities are invited to participate. Students are welcome. There is no age limit. The jury awards at least one of the two prizes to applicants from Bremen, Bremerhaven or their partner cities (Besançon, Cherbourg, Dalian, Durban, Frederikshavn, Gdansk, Grimsby, Haifa, Izmir, Kaliningrad, Pori, Riga, Szczecin, Windhoek and Odesa).

All facets are welcome: classical, (non)linear, audio-visual project ideas, those with an installation character, and all those that move at the boundaries of media art. Projects that have not yet been implemented are funded.

Submission Requirements

  • the completed and saved registration form including a short project description (max. three sentences) and reference to a reference project on the Internet (Youtube, vimeo or similar; password protected if necessary).

In addition, a separate PDF document with:
  • a detailed project description (as text or as an annotated photo series, sketch, animation or similar) – a list of the equipment required for the exhibition of the work (in the case of installation work also a construction sketch) and the information whether the project is planned with room sound and/or headphones. PDF Floor Plan Gallery Center
  • Important: The costs for the exhibition do NOT have to be included in this budget, it is the production budget for the realization of the video work. There will be a separate small budget for the exhibition.

Program Benefits & Awards

Every two years, the Filmbüro Bremen provides a total of 10,000 EUR in prize money, divided between at least two projects, for the realisation of video art ideas. The submitted project should therefore preferably require between 3,000 and a maximum of 7,000 euros for realisation.
