Short Description
The Gregory Vita Paper Arts Residency is a three-month residency at Pyramid Atlantic’s paper studio for artists specializing in papermaking. Established in honor of artist Gregory Vita, the program supports both emerging and seasoned artists seeking to expand their skills, explore new techniques, and engage with a community of fellow artists.
Submission Requirements
Applications are submitted online via Pyramid Atlantic’s portal (link provided in the original call).
A panel of jurors (including members of the Vita family, artists, and arts administrators) will select the recipient based on artistic merit, interest, and potential in paper arts.
Program Benefits
Selected artist receives:
A three-month residency in Pyramid Atlantic’s paper studio.
24-hour access to the studio.
Two papermaking workshops from the seasonal lineup.
Three (4-hour) lessons in other studios with Pyramid Atlantic’s artistic associates.
Storage space and a flat file for tools and materials.
Use of standard shop supplies.
Program Expectations
Artists work in a productive, community-oriented environment.
They must follow all studio policies.
Housing is NOT provided, but information on nearby housing is available upon acceptance.
Eligibility
Open to artists with prior experience in papermaking.
Projects may include papermaking, pulp painting, paper sculpture, paper marbling, book arts, printmaking, or any combination of these.
Current Pyramid Atlantic Board members, staff, and artistic associates are NOT eligible.
