WORTHLESSSTUDIOS is a New York-based non-profit organization supporting contemporary artists through residencies, public art, and exhibitions. Title & Description

Photographer in Residence (PIR) 2026
This one-month residency provides analog photographers exclusive access to a mobile Airstream darkroom, allowing them to process film and create site-specific photographic work. Residents engage directly with communities in the five boroughs of NYC, documenting people and places while producing a total of 20 images—10 original artworks and 10 documenting the residency experience. The program encourages experimentation, professional development, and public engagement through optional workshops or events.

Eligibility

  • Artists with prior experience in analog darkroom photography.
  • Not currently enrolled in an art-related degree program, nor planning to enroll within the year.
  • International and U.S.-based applicants welcome, but non-U.S. citizens must have valid work visa or residency status.
  • Collectives accepted, sharing stipend and resources.
