#Ey!Studio: Contemporary Art, Creation, and Residency Space
#Ey!Studio is a self-organized space for contemporary art, creation, research, artistic residencies, and exhibition run by the visual artists and curators Garcia_Fernández (SomosNosotros). It is located in the Carabanchel district of Madrid.

Since our opening in 2017, we have fostered, supported, and promoted visual and performative arts, emphasizing emerging art. We are interested in highlighting the memory of the Carabanchel district and the city of Madrid through situated artistic practices that generate a critical discourse and are committed to the context. This is achieved by exploring various research areas that interest us, such as: historical memory, feminisms, interdependence, precariousness, migratory processes, ecologism, decolonialism, urbanism, gentrification, and interculturalism, among others.

We have several residency programs, through which a total of 39 resident artists have passed so far.

The “#Ey!MAD Residencies” is a curated program of research residencies aimed at Spanish and Ibero-American artists to carry out projects based on the Carabanchel context concerning issues that challenge us as district neighbors. The goal is to make contemporary art and critical thinking accessible to the neighbors by linking them to the projects developed in the residencies.

The “#Ey!Studio AiR” program is intended for international artists of any discipline, researchers, and curators who wish to carry out a personal project linked to the context of Madrid.

To date, we have programmed 63 activities where a total of 59 artists—34 women and 25 men—from various national and international origins such as Russia, the United States, Portugal, Brazil, Italy, Argentina, Mozambique, Chile, Australia, Ecuador, Sweden, Colombia, etc., have showcased their work.

We have a firm commitment to gender parity, as well as to ensuring the defense of good professional practices and we apply them as much as possible.

We have been invited to participate in “Transcultural Exchange” in Boston, “Mira Look Books” at the Serrería Belga (Madrid), selected to participate in the cultural projects accelerator La dinámica (A Coruña), invited to the exhibition “Todo lo demás” at CentroCentro (Madrid), at the “Festival Proyector”, participated in “Vivaces” at the I Encuentro de la Plataforma de espacios independientes de creación contemporánea (of which we are a part) at the Sala Alcalá de la CAM, obtained “Iberescena Creation in Residency Grants”, “Subsidy for independent contemporary creation spaces 22/23” from the Madrid City Council, “Residencias-PICE 2022, 2023, and 2024” from Acción Cultural Española, invited to participate in “La noche de los libros” of the Community of Madrid in 2021 and 2022, invited to the Hybrid Fair at the Petit Palace Santa Bárbara (Madrid) 2022 and 2023, selected to participate in the “Cultural exchange and cooperation program with Cuba and Morocco (AECID)”, won the second Hybrid Fest Award for the best exhibition proposal, selected for the curated visits of the “Obertura Festival” in 2023 and 2021, selected to participate in the “Exchange and cooperation program between independent spaces from different countries SWAP (AC/E)” within the framework of the Next Festival in Turin (Italy) in 2021, beneficiaries of the “Grants for contemporary creation spaces of the Madrid City Council 2020/21”, chosen to participate in the “Emergencia” Exhibition of the Hybrid online Festival 2021, selected in Open Studio in 2018, 2019, and 2022.
