The Culterim provides a platform for artists participating in the interim cultural use concept of Culterim. Although, especially among up and coming talented artists, studio and exhibition venues are a critical issue and rare, we are faced with vacancies across the country. The concept of Culterim tackles this mismatch by creating temporary residencies for artists and exhibitions in otherwise unused venues.
The works originated or exhibited as part of our concept are presented to the public and offered for sale in exhibitions and digitally here at our online art market. Our objective is to support up-and-coming artists by providing studio and exhibition venues and connecting them with people interested in art. By deciding to purchase one of our artworks, you are also deciding to support an urban-political/societal agenda.
Despite the lack of space for artists and cultural workers, we are constantly confronted with vacant spaces. Our vision is to make vacant spaces usable again for artists and to create places for art education. We have been pursuing this cultural policy agenda since our founding in 2021.
Our spatial projects create studio communities, exhibition spaces and artist-in-residence programs. In each project, we take a holistic approach. The focus is on community building for the artists and our art education formats.
Culterim’s art education formats offer a diverse range of options for artists and art enthusiasts. With our own exhibitions, the accompanying artistic program in the residencies and the independent class, we offer exchange, development and visibility for artists of different professional levels. The commercial gallery Gegen & Lücke continuously presents a high-quality exhibition program and represents emerging artists.
Culterim’s vision and activities form an ongoing initiative for art and culture.
