MARES Art Residency

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our residency program at the Santa Croce Monumental Complex, located in the municipality of Bosco Marengo (AL), Italy. MARES is offering 5 artists and 1 curator the opportunity to explore the history and unique character of the Alessandria territory, providing a free space within the Complex to produce thematic works. This first edition aims to reflect on the connections between the idea of Ruins and contemporary art.

With its spacious rooms and restored areas, the site of Santa Croce is the perfect setting for workshops, talks, and the final exhibition, which participants will contribute to in September 2025 with the works realized during the residency. The artists and curator will be encouraged to direct their research on characteristic aspects of the territory and to establish connections with the towns in the province of Alessandria, to understand the social, economic, and geographical configuration of the area.

Selection:
• 5 artists (3 residing in Italy and 2 international)
• 1 curator residing in Italy

The residency is open to emerging artists and researchers in the visual and performing arts, video and digital art, art criticism, and curating. In order to ensure a broad cultural exchange, the residency aims to host both Italian and international artists in the same space to foster new dialogues.
