CREA Cantieri del Contemporaneo is excited to announce the inaugural edition of CREA OPEN, an international award dedicated to promoting and celebrating contemporary art on a global scale.

Open Call Launch: January 7, 2025
Application Deadline: February 20, 2025
Finalists Announced: March 5, 2025
Exhibition Opening: April 7, 2025

Eligibility:

The award is open to artists of all nationalities working in the field of visual arts.

Categories and Mediums:

Artists may submit works in the following categories:

Painting & Printing
Sculpture
Installation & Land Art
Video Art
Photography
Performance
New Media & Technology
Textile Art

Theme:

There is no specific theme for this edition, allowing artists to freely express their vision and creativity.

How to Apply:

Applications must be submitted via the CREA Cantieri del Contemporaneo website by February 20, 2025. Artists can submit one artwork and must include:

Completed application form
High-quality digital images of the work
Artist biography or portfolio
Links to digital materials (if applicable)
Participation is completely free, with no application fee.

Selection Process:

An international jury will select 20 finalists based on these criteria:

Originality and Innovation: Fresh approaches to contemporary artistic language.
Artistic Quality: Technical skill and the ability to convey emotion or meaning.
Exhibition Potential: Adaptability to an exhibition space.
Visual Impact: Ability to capture and engage the audience.
Relevance: Connection to current trends and themes in contemporary art.
Artistic Concept: Clarity and coherence of the artistic project.
Finalists must deliver their works to CREA Cantieri del Contemporaneo in Venice by April 1, 2025, at their own expense. Packaging and return shipping costs will also be the responsibility of the artist.

Prizes:

First Prize: A solo exhibition at CREA Cantieri del Contemporaneo in Venice, curated by the CREA team.
CRAG Prize: A residency opportunity for one finalist, selected by CRAG Gallery directors.
Additional prizes to be announced.

Submission Requirements:

Painting, Sculpture, Installation, Photography, and Land Art: Upload up to 3 images of your work in .jpg, .pdf, or .png format, 300 dpi, RGB. Files should be named: SurnameName_Title_Year.
Video, Performance, and New Media & Technology: Provide a link to platforms such as YouTube, Vimeo, SoundCloud, or Behance.
