Short Description
The Core Residency Program, hosted by the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (MFAH), is a 23-month residency for exceptional emerging artists and critical writers. The program provides significant financial support, studio space, mentorship, and exhibition opportunities to help fellows develop a sustainable artistic or critical writing practice.
Residency Duration: 23 months
Benefits:
$100,000 stipend ($50,000 per year) + health stipend
Private studio at Glassell School of Art
Regular studio visits from regional, national, and international artists and curators
Exhibitions & Public Engagements:
Year 1: Group exhibition, artist lecture, open studio event
Year 2: Solo exhibition/project, gallery talk, second open studio event

Discounted classes at Glassell School of Art
Access to MFAH resources, including a permanent collection of 80,000 artworks
Library privileges at Hirsch Library (MFAH) & Fondren Library (Rice University)
Eligibility
Open to emerging artists and critical writers International applicants accepted, but priority is given to Harris County-based artists when qualifications are comparable
