Short Description:

The Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO), one of North America’s largest art museums, is seeking an Assistant Registrar, Exhibitions. The role supports the coordination of temporary exhibitions, managing incoming loans, logistics, and ensuring the safe handling, transport, and documentation of artworks.

Responsibilities

Prepare reports and uphold data and museum standards

Liaise with lenders and internal departments to assess loan requirements

Maintain accurate records in TMS (The Museum System) and digital files

Conduct condition checks and oversee installation inventories

Coordinate insurance and indemnity documentation

Support customs clearance, couriers, and shipping logistics

Respond to emergencies involving exhibition loans

Eligibility:

  • Degree in arts, museum studies, or related fields
  • 3–5 years of museum experience in registration or collections management
  • Skilled in art handling, conservation, insurance, and customs
  • Proficient in TMS and Microsoft Office; experience with NetX preferred
  • Knowledge of Canadian and international museum standards (e.g., CITES, Cultural Property Act)
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills

Salary: CA$68,595–85,685 annually
