Short Description

Creative Practitioner Residencies are a funded route for those working in visual arts, craft & design, music, literature and performance, with at least three years of active practice. The Creative Practitioner Residency strand supports interesting, ambitious and challenging practices, providing space and time to focus in unique landscapes and off-grid spaces.

Our Creative Practitioner Residencies support critical, ambitious and challenging practices, and provide space and time for practitioners to focus without distraction in a unique landscape and off-grid space. It is not necessary for your work to engage with the residency location.

There are five residencies available. The residencies will take place between September – December 2025 at Sweeney’s Bothy, a simple off-grid building in unique surroundings on the Isle of Eigg. The dates of the residency weeks are set and listed below.

Eligibility

This opportunity is open to those working in performance art, dance, choreography and theatre. Applications are welcome from practitioners who are able to demonstrate at least three years of active practice and are based in the UK.

Submission Requirements

  • Your preferred residency weeks (the dates of the residency weeks are set and listed below)
  • Statement of up to 250 words outlining your creative practice
  • Proposal of up to 250 words outlining what you would like to work on during your residency. Let us know what appeals to you about a Bothy Project residency and why now is the right time for you to carry out this residency
  • Single PDF document that includes a CV (no more the two sides of A4) and material relevant to your practice. For example: up to three links to film/audio extracts (no more than 10 minutes in total); up to eight images that demonstrate your practice (with captions) or up to three examples of writing (no more than 1000 words in total).
