Sony Future Filmmaker Awards, a major program providing exceptional opportunities for creators and filmmakers, is open for submissions for 2026.

Now in its fourth year, this industry-immersive program creates new pathways and connections for up-and-coming creators, providing unparalleled insight into the film industry.

Enter your short film into one of the four categories:
Fiction — Submissions must be between 5 to 20 minutes in length and be narrative-led to convey an original fictional story or event. Dramatized factual subjects should be entered into this category rather than Non-Fiction
Non-Fiction — Submissions must be between 5 to 20 minutes in length and be predominantly factual in content. Archive footage, documentary footage, reenactments and animation are eligible, but dramatized factual subjects will not qualify and should be entered into another category
Animation — Submissions must be between 2 to 20 minutes in length and include at least 75% of animated footage to qualify for this category
Student — Entries can be of any genre. Submissions must be between 5 to 20 minutes in length

A total of 30 shortlisted filmmakers will be flown to Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, California, to attend an awards ceremony and a bespoke industry immersion program comprising exclusive workshops led by Sony Pictures executives, masterclasses, panel discussions, tours, screenings and Q&As.
