Short Description:
The city of Buckeye invites Arizona-based artists, groups, or organizations to submit qualifications to create 2D mural design for the Verrado Way/Van Buren Water Campus Offsite Well #3. The chosen artist will be asked to create a design on the 200’x8’ wall with the theme “desert storms/desert rain.” The art should use bold colors and reflect the interests and community standards of all ages of Buckeye residents. All artwork will be original.
Two artists will be chosen as finalists and asked to develop a design, which will earn them $1,000 each. The artist whose work is chosen by the Community Services Advisory Board will advance into production, and that artist will receive an additional $56,000 for the realization of the art.
Location:
The wall is located along Verrado Way, at the northeast intersection of Verrado Way and Van Buren at the Water Campus Offsite Well #3, at 23945 W Broadway Rd, Buckeye, AZ 85326. Only the western facing wall will be considered for the mural. It is not right at back of the curb, so the artist will want to include bolder, more recognizable shapes/colors as subtle details will be lost from a distance. The wall is approximately 200 feet long and 8 feet tall.
