Short Description

In accordance with the memorandum of understanding between the Municipality of Mercato San Severino, the “Sabatini Menna” Art High School of Salerno, and the Francesco Terrone Foundation of Ripacandida and Ginestra—approved by Municipal Council Resolution No. 99 dated May 2, 2023— The Municipality of Mercato San Severino, as part of its artistic promotion activities, announces the third national edition of “Sanseverino Young Art.”

The theme of this edition is: Community.

The competition is open to the following categories of applicants:

    Category A:
    Students regularly enrolled in Italian Art High Schools (Licei Artistici) during the 2025/2026 academic year.
    Schools are invited to promote the competition as widely as possible among teachers and students, ensuring equal opportunities for participation.
    Each institution may submit up to five works per section (as specified in Art. 4) in the Visual Arts categories, either as individual participants or as group projects.

    Category B:
    All artists (individuals or collectives) who, by the application deadline, are at least 18 years old and under 36 years old, of any gender and/or nationality, provided they were born, reside, study, or work in Italy.
    Each artist (individual or collective) may submit a maximum of one work in Section A.

    Competition Sections:

    The competition, for both categories (A and B), is divided into the following sections:

      A. VISUAL ARTS SECTION: painting, sculpture, graphic arts, photography, ceramic design, and installations.
      B. SPECIAL SECTION: audiovisual.

      Eligibility

      Sanseverino Young Art is a project dedicated to promoting art in its various forms, culminating in a national competition organized by the Municipality of Mercato San Severino in collaboration with the “Sabatini-Menna” Art High School of Salerno and the Francesco Terrone Foundation of Ripacandida and Ginestra.

      Program Benefits & Awards

      The total prize fund amounts to €4,500.00.

      The main prizes for the Visual Arts Section in both Categories will be distributed as follows:

      For the winners of Category A, the top three works in the Visual Arts Section will receive cash prizes as follows:

      • First Prize: €1,000.00
      • Second Prize: €500.00
      • Third Prize: €250.00

      For the winners of Category B, the top three works in the Visual Arts Section will receive cash prizes as follows:

      • First Prize: €1,000.00
      • Second Prize: €500.00
      • Third Prize: €250.00

      The main prizes for the Special Section (Audiovisual) in both Categories amount to €500.00 each, which includes the multimedia video production of the winning work.

      For the winners of Category A, the cash prizes will be paid directly to the bank accounts of the educational institutions attended by the winners. The prize may be used at the discretion of the institution to purchase equipment for the winners or their class, or alternatively, paid directly to the winner.
      The schools of the winners are required to provide the organizing secretariat with their bank details and the contact information of the school representative for the payment of the awarded sum.
