- Portfolio requirements are program-specific. For undergraduate admission, a general visual portfolio is required for majors including Art & Design Education, 2-D Animation, 3-D Animation, Game Arts, Fine Arts-related majors, and Photography; Film has its own visual and writing portfolio requirements.
General Eligibility
- International applicants are eligible to apply to Pratt and are reviewed according to the requirements of their intended program. Undergraduate applicants must hold a high school diploma or equivalent before enrollment. Graduate applicants generally require a bachelor's degree or international equivalent, with additional academic or disciplinary prerequisites for some programs.
- For example, the MFA in Photography accepts applicants with a bachelor's degree and does not require an undergraduate major in studio art. The MA in Art and Design Education requires a bachelor's degree with at least 25 credits in art, design, and/or art history and a minimum 3.0 bachelor's GPA.
- Certain programs have substantially different prerequisites. Art Therapy and Creativity Development requires studio-art and psychology coursework, while Dance/Movement Therapy requires psychology, anatomy/kinesiology, dance experience, and body/mind modality experience.
Language Requirements
- International applicants whose first or native language is not English must demonstrate English proficiency, subject to applicable waiver conditions. Pratt accepts TOEFL iBT, IELTS Academic, Cambridge English, PTE, and Duolingo English Test.
- For undergraduate four-year programs, the minimum IELTS Academic score is 7.0; for two-year associate programs, it is 6.0. Graduate requirements vary by program: 6.5 IELTS is required for Digital Arts, Fine Arts, Photography, Arts and Cultural Management, and Design Management, while Art and Design Education requires 7.5.

Film BFA applicants must submit both a visual component and a writing component. Additional Details
Pratt's School of Art currently lists both undergraduate and graduate programs, but admission terms differ substantially by program. Several graduate programs are Fall-only, while selected programs admit for Spring as well. Low-residency Art Therapy and Dance/Movement Therapy programs have specific international visa restrictions because Pratt states that they are not full-time and therefore do not qualify for an F-1 visa.
