Barcelona Design Week: Human/AI Design Challenge

Barcelona Design Week HumanAI Design Challenge

Barcelona Design Week: Design for Human Future seeks, among its objectives, to open a reflection on how to improve the balance between human creativity and artificial intelligence. For this reason, this year we are organizing the Human/AI Design Challenge, a challenge for students from design schools around the world where they will have to carry out a graphic design project assisted by AI content generation algorithms.

The final result must be a 70×100 cm poster on the theme Design for Human Future, the images and visual content of which must be original. In addition, the project must be accompanied by an explanation of the use that has been made of Artificial Intelligence for its realization. The winner will receive the BDW-CASA SEAT prize of €1,500.

The deadline for the presentation of posters ends on September 27 at 1 pm (GMT +2).

Barcelona Design Week, created by Barcelona Design Centre in 2006, celebrates its 18th edition from October 16 to 28, 2023 and will be associated with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), declared by the United Nations.
Halfway to reaching the 2030 Agenda, promoted in 2015, it is time to have a realistic perspective regarding the path developed and the pending achievement.
Faced with a global scenario marked by uncertainty, complexity and volatility, design is a key element for the present and future of people, to create a human future. In this sense, the BDW’23 launches a global initiative to promote SDG number 18: Design for Human Future, which also becomes the motto of the edition. The conditions of a human future in which design plays a fundamental role are those that have to do with achieving a balance between the importance of human beings as positive agents in the face of the great challenges of contemporary times. And among them is the urgency to regulate the balance between human creative intelligence and other forms of intelligence created by humans and now resident in machines, technologies and digital platforms. This point has recently gained unprecedented relevance with the release of OpenAI ChatGPT and other AI platforms.

There is No Entry Fee.
